Let’s face it! You meet someone and you are either drawn to them or not. But what is it? What intrigues you to find out more? What if I told you that there was a way to know more without even being told? All you have to do is simply observe.
I’m a seeker. I’m curious. I’ve always been fascinated by people. I like to people watch and sometimes people stare. In the past I would creatively see people as cartoons and draw caricatures. Now with training, I observe and get to know them at first glance.
Why don’t I get invited to dinner anymore?
When I had completed my first level in psychosomatic training, my spidey senses were on high alert. I would focus and stare while evaluating someone’s nose, eyes or hair line. Sometimes the person was not my client, sometimes the person wasn’t even sitting at the same table as me. Sometimes the person was sitting at the table behind my dining partner and I was analyzing over my dining partner’s left shoulder. And yes, sometimes, I’m sure that the person sensed someone staring at them and yes I’m sure that there were a few dining partners that noticed that I wasn’t totally present with the conversation.
I’ve improved. I can now go to dinner and be present. I can observe a person without diving into the rabbit hole. But that has taken some time and intention to be disciplined enough to let that prominent feature of those sparkling blue eyes or large hook nose go walking into the sunset.
When does a new friend become an old friend?
In the beginning, when I was super curious about everyone’s facial features, I would do little “mini” readings on the willing and not so willing participants. So this once I offered to do a session for an asian friend. Let’s call him Stephen. Stephen wasn’t “open” to the idea that I could “read” him. So I agreed not to and that I understood given his resolute head shape. It would be very difficult to change his mind. He agreed. And that he was far too practical and less imaginative to concern himself with such matters. He also agreed with this. And his eyes were indicating that he was cautious and reserved. He started to become intrigued. His eyes were also indicating that he exerts great emotional control and I assured him that I totally understood that he wasn’t one to be sharing everything about himself. Unlike me, he wasn’t an open book. We went on to discuss his ears, hair color, texture, and his nose. After all this he opened up about his cultural upbringing and the belief systems. It all made sense to him.
How well do you REALLY know your best friend?
I later met with my girlfriend who was eager for a reading. Let’s call her….Arden. I’ve gone to high school with Arden and at times talk with her almost every morning for years at a time. I can safely say that we know each other well. Well we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant, Mikado. We sat across from each other in a private booth face to face. At first glance, I discovered that she had a resolute head shape like Stephen. Her nose was small. Her beautiful eyes were small, secretive and protecting her heart. She doesn’t give it all away easily either. It was as if this extraverted friend/reader could finally see and understand what was there all the time. OMG! I SEE YOU! I see more of you than I’ve ever known as I explained all that I saw.
She smiled and chuckled at being discovered. I remember being apologetic for not “seeing” her sooner. I then had a learning moment that a young asian millennial male could have a similar face reading and live stream as a Gen X caucasian female. Ding Ding Ding. I got it. What a learning experience. We truly learn as we practically do.
